This play was commissioned mindfully and specifically to ask questions and seek out action plans to address the crises that are so beautifully framed in Mary Shelley's novel: what happens when science and ambition run amok, the cost of ego and power taking over our humanity, and the suffering created by embracing what we can do rather that what we should do. Without providing answers but by illustrating the affliction caused by not questioning, Frankestein is a shocking cautionary tale. Through her story and the active intention of the performers and creators we imagine how our local and global communities can move past the accepted norms of commoditization to form the new collaborative model of connection and communication. It is clear that we need this model to drive us into the next evolution of civilization where technology will help and not hurt, people may collaborate and not compete, and resources are replenished rather than ravaged. History, literature, and art provide a direct channel to the head and heart to help affect this crucial shift.Frankenstein, a new adaptation by Lindel Hart and presented by Old Deerfield Productions, comes to the Springfield Museums for two performances only! And each night features a special post-show event!
If you missed the sold-out, extended premiere run at the First National Bank building in Greenfield, you can witness the rebirth of "Frankenstein" on September 26 and 27 at the Davis Auditorium of the Springfield Museums. The show begins at 7:30 PM each evening.
Lindel has revised the script, we are restaging the show in a proscenium theatre, and we welcome Colin Allen to the cast as Victor Frankenstein, De Lacey and William. Jane Williams continues in the role of Mary Shelley and will take on the role of Elizabeth, as well. And Lindel Hart reprises his performance as the Creature.
The production features projection design by Florian Canga, illustrating the story through light, image and live video projections; costume and set design by Athan Vennell; makeup design by Joseph Dulude II; and lighting design by Matthew Cowan. Linda McInerney directs the show.

Friday September 26: Emily Anthes!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Author and journalist Emily Anthes joins us as our Humanist Scholar and will speak following Friday's performance. Her best-selling book "Frankenstein's Cat" is an amazing exploration of what science is already doing with animals in "Franken" ways: glowing fish and robotic cats, to name just a few. Emily is helping us to create the education programs we are sharing with schools in the region. Her work with us is made possible through a grant from Mass Humanities.
